Has God ever realigned your journey? Re-routed the path you were on? What do you do when God realigns where you were going?
The world would tell us to check with the stars, put the covers over our head and not come out for a while, or listen to sappy songs. The Word tells us to seek Him, when we do not know what step to take next. “Call to me and I will tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3.
God has been realigning my journey and the most incredible part about it has been watching the thread of His hand. It is unmistakable. Three things I have done as God has realigned my journey:
Call to Him: God’s word is crystal clear regarding what to do when we do not know what to do: call to Him. I have had to sit down and really think through this recently and re assess when I call to Him. I confess it has not been the first thing I do. I usually call someone not the One. Retraining my patterns to call to Him first has been a challenge, but is tremendously rewarding. I can be fully honest and not be concerned with how words come out, if it makes sense, or if I am crazy. He knows your heart and the desires of what your heart holds. You can tell Him anything, anyway. He understands and loves you for who you are. Call to Him. He will answer you.
Claim His Word: Ask God to show you a verse to claim during this season. Place it on the kitchen window, the bathroom mirror, above the air vent in the car, in your wallet, in the laundry room-all the places you frequent so you can be reminded of His promise to you. Satan wants to create a negative rut in your mind that digs deeper and deeper into despair, doubt, and eventually sin. As my mom says “re-map your thoughts with the things of Him, verses which are promises to you.” Don’t allow any other type of reconstruction that does not honor God go on in your heart and head.
Repack your backpack: if your journey is being realigned, take this time to go through your “backpack” and make sure what you are carrying with you is what you really need. Are you hiding His word in your heart? Do you have what you need for your family? Are you caring for yourself? Do you have a support system where you are? Surround yourself with encouragement and things that lift your eyes to Him, not things that detract and despair.
Are you walking through a challenging time? Let me know and I will be praying for you. Above all, know you are loved by an amazing Father who “has great plans for you-plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and future…” (Jeremiah 29:11)
